- The VC subscription is the only way to get interim releases of
- the compiler. In their infinite wisdom, MS doesn't release
- interim versions of VC into the retail channel. Thus, you could
- only get v2.0 through retail, not 2.1 or 2.2. Now, you can get
- 4.0, but you won't be able to get 4.1 due imminently.

- As you have probably guessed already, the interim releases are
- the ones you really want, since they include bug fixes.
- Therefore, if you plan to use VC seriously and can afford it,
- you should get the subscription.
